When Hosfeld Insurance, LLC and InsuranceChix.com officially became part of the Blue Marsh Insurance family on August 1, 2025, Donna Hosfeld joined the team to help guide the transition. At the time, the plan was clear: Donna would support the transition, wrap things up, and step fully into retirement on Halloween—October 31, 2025.
But sometimes, the best plans evolve.
During those first few months at Blue Marsh, Donna quickly realized something unexpected—she genuinely loved being part of the team. The collaboration, the shared values, and the relationships felt like home. With a little creativity, flexibility, and plenty of thoughtful conversations, Donna and Tom found a solution that offered the best of both worlds: the freedom of retirement and the joy of continuing meaningful work alongside teammates and customers she cares deeply about.
As a result, Donna is excited to continue with Blue Marsh Insurance as a part-time Senior Protection Advisor.
A Career Built on Relationships and Clarity
Donna brings 28 years of insurance experience to her role, along with her AIC (Associate in Claims) and CPIW (Certified Professional Insurance Woman) designations. A lifelong learner, Donna has always valued education and clarity, both for herself and for the clients she serves.
Her philosophy is simple: insurance is far too important to “hope” you have it right. Over the years, clients have consistently shared that Donna’s ability to answer questions clearly and make complex topics easy to understand is why they stay loyal and refer others her way. For Donna, making the complex simple isn’t just helpful—it’s essential.
Rooted in Community
Born and raised in the rural outskirts of Emmaus, Donna considers herself a country girl at heart. After a brief detour into an insurance job near Philadelphia (which she famously vowed would be her last), she returned to the Lehigh Valley and found her stride working in claims with Erie Insurance. That role reignited her passion and eventually led her to open her own agency—an opportunity of a lifetime that became 28 years of hard work, fulfillment, and joy.
Donna has a deep love of Alburtis, where she purchased the building at 339 Franklin in 2019, formerly home to the beloved Frey’s Deli & Country Store. While the deli was deeply missed, Donna was welcomed with kindness and generosity, forming lasting friendships in a tightknit, supportive borough of Alburtis.
Life Beyond the Office
With her new schedule, Donna is enjoying a five-day weekend and embracing the idea of “what’s possible.” Every adventure includes her beloved pup, Lola, which has led to exploring dog-friendly breweries throughout the Lehigh Valley. Great food, craft brews, and meeting interesting people have become a favorite way to spend her newfound free time.
Why She’s Staying
The decision to transition her agency after 28 years was not an easy one. When you do something for that long—especially with customers who become family—it becomes part of who you are.
“I wanted to continue with the Blue Marsh Team because they’re good folks. The decision to transition was a tough one. When you do something for 28 years, it becomes a part of you. When you get to do it with customers who’ve become family, you realize what a gift and privilege it’s been. Knowing that I’ve found a wonderful team that will carry things forward was super important to me. Being able to remain active is just the cherry on top!”
