We are proud to announce that Maddox of Parkland High School has been selected as the recipient of the 2026 Blue Marsh Insurance Scholarship.
Maddox plans to study Finance in college, and his application stood out because of the way he exemplifies our core value of Learning.
For Maddox, learning extends far beyond the classroom. Over the past four years, he has dedicated himself to powerlifting, embracing the discipline, perseverance, and self-reflection required to continually improve. Through his training, he discovered that growth is not always measured by wins or rankings, but by the lessons learned along the way.
One of the most impactful moments in Maddox’s journey came at powerlifting nationals. Although he delivered the strongest performance of his career, he finished ninth overall. While initially disappointed, Maddox used the experience as an opportunity to reflect and grow.
Rather than focusing on how he compared to others, he learned to redefine success by concentrating on the things he could control: his effort, preparation, and mindset. That experience helped shape not only his approach to athletics but also his faith, relationships, and personal development.
In his scholarship application, Maddox shared that learning has become the foundation of how he responds to both success and adversity. He actively seeks opportunities to grow, embraces challenges, and understands that setbacks often provide the greatest lessons. His commitment to continuous improvement is a powerful example of what it means to live out the value of learning every day.
